| Greetings... | May 2008 |
|
I have always found May to be a month especially filled with celebration:
In addition this month, I also have some book news to celebrate! Many of you have been awaiting my book, "This Reality Is Only An Option" to be released... know that it IS coming! Several things have pushed it forward, including other writing, training, and speaking projects. But the good news is that in the meantime...
The story behind this little book: I have been facilitating this material for about twelve years now and in recent years, due to request, have been bringing this information more and more to the trades industry. Many of those workshop participants have mentioned how great it would be to have some brief tips (similar to the handouts I offered) in a compact format, so that they could be accessed easily (from their toolbox—hence "Toolbox Quick-Tips Guide") in the times when they need it the most. So they provided me with the inspiration to create this little book to meet those needs! I had no idea at the time that the interest and demand for this little book would sky rocket the way it has so quickly! A big thanks to all! My web team has been working fast to get new pages up on my site, (which is why I chose to wait to send this newsletter to you until the end of in the month). In addition to the Breathe book page, there is a new training page and booking request form page. In addition to the book excitement, I have a lot of great new friends and networks to celebrate! It's been a fun Spring filled with meeting new people and I have been writing away about it all in my gratitude journal! Speaking of networks, next month my newsletter will focus on Careers, Business, and Networking. My friend Keith, from Australia, will share an article with you regarding networking virtually on social networks, and Angela Murphy will share an article about goals. If you would like to share an article in an upcoming issue, please feel free to write me at: brenda@brendablackburn.com. I would love to hear from you! Celebrate your talents and gifts by sharing them with the world! Happy summer ahead! Take time to celebrate life and celebrate you!
Celebrate You! Celebrate Spirit!
When I say "Celebrate Spirit" what do you think of? No, I don't mean anything woo-woo, but there is a bigger, synchronistic picture to our world and universe. How have you celebrated it lately? How do you celebrate it? And do you think of them in connection with each other? If we think about it, they are really inseparable aren't they? How can you celebrate you without automatically celebrating spirit? And vice versa?
If you are one of the growing number of people on this planet who are hungry for deeper meaning and spiritual context (not necessarily religion per se), then the merging of these two concepts will be very appealing! Three of the ways that I celebrate self and spirit, in my daily life, is to be mentally stimulated by positive inspiration, honour the feelings of my intuition (my soul's urging), and take creative initiative and action. Inspiration—Intuition—Initiative... they all are a part of how I celebrate me, life (including relationships), and spirit... and provide me with so many more reasons to celebrate! If you would like to share some of the ways you celebrate self and spirit, send them to me at brenda@brendablackburn.com and they might be posted in an upcoming issue!

Celebrate Your Dreams. Three steps for living life to its fullest.
The Secret to You. A great little two minute feel-good video I've enjoyed watching many times.
Cup of Life. Ricky Martin-live music video. What can I say? A little flash from the past (1999)! (This really brings back memories of when I was dancing to it on stage! But that's a whole other story!) It's all about celebrating!
Lately, I've been teaching for CLAC BC Training Centre (a national union) providing training at the Ashlu Creek hydro project in Squamish for Frontier Kemper. I've been facilitating the Career Exploration program at MCC Employment Essentials in Richmond. I've been a Keynote Speaker at a hotel training conference in Coquitlam for Matcon Excavation and Shoring Ltd., as well as a Featured Speaker for the Celebration of Life Center in Surrey. I've been a guest at the Business Circle Network in Richmond, where I will be the featured speaker June 10th. In addition, I've attended an excellent Ethics for Breakfast meeting with the Workplace Centre for Ethical and Spiritual Development of Vancouver, been a Mentor Panelist (topic: Building Your Network) at SFU Downtown Vancouver for the Minerva Foundation's Helping Women Work program www.theminervafoundation.com/, and attended the Valley Women's Network, Vancouver Chapter, evening meeting. Check my schedule page for June happenings, and this Fall watch for an upcoming Business Seminar Event where I will be a Keynote Speaker (topic: The True Foundation of Business and Personal Success), along with Neil Godin, Speaker, Trainer, and Author (a.k.a. "The Turnaround Guy") and Mr. Marian Lewandowski, Principal of the Osborne Group. My current course offering, by popular demand, is Breathe: How to Keep Your Cool at Work (or anywhere else)-(formerly called "Dealing with Challenging Personalities and Situations). If you would like to have this training provided in your workplace or organization, please see www.brendablackburn.com/training.php for more information. To request me as a speaker or trainer, please see: www.brendablackburn.com/book-request.php. On the personal side of things this month, (in addition to a little birthday vacationing in Osoyoos), for my own personal and spiritual growth I attended the movie 2012: The Odyssey which was quite interesting, watched a recommended internet documentary called Zeitgeist (leans to government conspiracy, but you if go into it with an open mind, it is good for a little spirited debate), and attended an evening talk entitled, The True Meaning of Spiritual Enlightenment, (which included Eastern philosophy) at the Centre for Peace in Vancouver. I will be taking a bit of a break during the summer, so that I can get my next books (there's many more coming) out into the world! Stay tuned!
Raywyn was asking about the model I use behind my life coaching philosophy. More than I can begin to get into in this newsletter, (we discussed in some detail over email chats!), but it is all covered in my upcoming book, "This Reality is Only An Option"-out soon and I will include free excerpts on my website! For now, this is an excerpt from the back of my book: "Bringing forth a new intuitive view, This Reality is Only an Option shows the three realities of our lives that coalesce to form the greater whole and the three threads that connect life together. We are introduced to a bridge that joins the empowerment of personal development and external life strategies with the unity of the collective and the power of inclusive spirituality. We are called to awaken to the cohesiveness of life and the importance of our roles and responsibilities within it."
If you have a question that relates to personal or professional development (internal, external, or spiritual), life coaching, employment counseling, training, my book, the website, or topics you'd like to see covered in upcoming editions, please send me an email.
Each month, all new subscribers that month will automatically be entered to WIN either their choice of a personalized, signed copy of Brenda's new large non-fiction book (This Reality is Only An Option) when it's released, or her current pocket book Quick-Tips Guide, "Breathe: How to Keep Your Cool at Work (or anywhere else)". Winners will be announced in the following month's newsletter. All subscribers also receive free podcasts! NEW additional "Share with a Friend" contest for current subscribers! Refer a friend to subscribe to this newsletter, then after they subscribe, email me at: brenda@brendablackburn.com to let me know that you referred them, with both your email addresses, and one submission each month will be chosen - one pair of friends will BOTH receive a free ebook of "Breathe: How to Keep Your Cool at Work (or anywhere else)" pocket book!
